A Kings Meal With Uncle Dan

When Uncle Dan Staples invites you for dinner, you can always expect something savory, something aesthetic and something mysterious.
Dan invited us to a dinner party in his cottage-style backyard. You can see his artistic touch in every part of the evening, from candles on the tables to the mozzerella and tomato slices with fresh basil for appetizers. The Mystery: When asked what kind of rice he served, Dan would only say that he picked it up at a stand on the way to Sacramento. He is very good at avoiding questions... The Savory: Who knew that grilled lamb was so delicious!?! It was our first shot at eating lamb, and it was a good one. The Aesthetic: Another "Dan secret" was the purple cauliflower and... something. None of us are sure what it was, but it was sooo tasty. I could eat like that every day, but only Dan could make it so beautiful. (and cook it so well)
